    on my knees

     ON MY KNEES

                               CASSIUS MCPHERSON

I’ve been in this position many times before and I wasn’t looking for keys.

I was down on the floor wishing I had some more, I was searching down in my knees.

The embarrassment never crossed my mind on how stupid I really looked.

But when I finally realized what I was doing I knew then I was hooked.

I couldn’t cry out to anyone no matter how hard I tried.

I couldn’t face reality would I become a fatally of my own selfish pride.

My hands began to look like sandpaper because I wiped them across the floor.

There was nothing there but I didn’t care all I know is I needed some more.

By this time I knew life was unmanageable so I looked up toward the skies.

I got down on my knees please take this disease oh father hear my cries.

Then this calm and cool feeling came over me my whole body felt at ease.

I put my hands together I felt as light as a feather and for the right reasons             I was down on my knees.

Nice piece, heartfelt and from the soul. As one person said makes me feel like I am there with you. I can totally relate.

This is hard-core poetry in all of its perfection. Really sucks the reader in all the way to the end, placing us down on our knees with you, praying for the universal womb to rebirth us.

thanks scrye your a writer nuf said,,,

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
