One Day It Will All Be OK

One Day It Will Be OK

Stuck, wheels spinning, digging deeper into the ground
Stuck in the mud and the rain is pouring down
Like some sarcastic joke being played by life
Oh it’s funny, so funny I can't even cry
It's funny how in life sometimes you try
But fall short for lack of resource
Of course, this is my life.
You've got to do this, or you haven't done that, they say
Well slip in my shoes and walk for a day
Lack of effort is not a statement descriptive of me
It's through the distortion of the outside looking in
In which you see
You don't see the jobs I've put in for
Or the calls that I make
The credit hours in the class room
Or the passing grades I make
My failing health because of the stress
Of, trying to make ends meet
They only see the smile that I wear for every face that I greet
The man who has a mom with dementia
And a dad who's too sick to help
The pain of a man, who only wishes; that he could afford to help
I strive to be the best, because they want me to be
But I also strive to be the best, because it’s best for me
So it will continue to rain
And people will still see the same
But in the end, it is my prize I will gain
So I'll keep my head to the sky
And with a smile on my face
I will continue to pray
Because My Momma always told me
"One day it will all be OK"
