One Day Too Many

One Day Too Many

One day too many
Or too many in one day
I don’t even know
The words to say

This is war
And people die
But it fucks with my head
And hurts inside

When the wounded come in
You expect to see blood
But not from kids
That no wrong have they done

In the wrong place
Or at the wrong time
When the bomb went off
And let shrapnel fly

It was just passed 3
Outside of a school
We were just driving by
There was nothing we could do

I can still hear the screams
Of the children near by
But its 2 in the morning
And in my bed I lie..........

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
