One of a Kind

One of a Kind

She is one of a kind,

From the time of her birth,

Her first cry, song divine,

Sweetest one on this earth.

Pleasant smile, angel like.

Enchanting, a rare rose.

Made a mark upon my life.

Grand lady, in queen’s role.

Romance true; we made plans.

Happily, love profess.

Marriage set; wedding bands.

Holding hands; vows confess.

Since the day, I met her,

Felt alive by her charms.

Together, forever.

Each to each, loving ones.

Search the land; sea to sea,

None so pure; none so fine.

Test them all, guarantee,

She is one of a kind.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
