Poem Commentary

How strong is our faith in God's Word?

Opinion

What does mankind think of, when he sees the WORD OF GOD,

is it just a book that's obsolete, or a spiritual divining rod,

Some folk's view the BIBLE, as no more than a book,

have never seen inside one, and will never take a look,

To some it's Aesop's Fable's, just accumulated lore,

Adam, Noah, Jonah, Moses, made up stories nothing more,

Some think that it's essential, to have one on the shelf,

a type of home good luck charm, cheap protection for oneself,

Others have been gifted, a copy... by the just,

they've read their personal inscription, now it sits collecting dust,

But for many it’s revered, the Holy Word of God to man,

who delight in meditating, upon each word as God had planned,

It's transformed many a life, and has broken sin's addiction,

because it's the living Word of God, not man's philosophic fiction,

God who had spoken directly, to early man in day's gone by,

now speaks just through the Scripture's, which were inspired from on high,

And though scarcely for a righteous man, would one choose to die,

many believers have been martyred, when God's Word they'd not deny,

Like the Apostles... Persecuted, boldly preaching unto death,

because they'd seen the Risen Savior, after He'd paid our judgment debt,

But what of William Tyndale, Thomas Hauker and John Hus,

Jerome of Prague and Bishop Hooper, Archbishop Cranmer, and other just,

Their faith has been the Greatest, they've not seen God face to face,

but believing just what's written, they were all burned at the stake,

Yes, God's Word is deadly serious, don't treat it lightly for your sake,

but in graft it in your soul, that right decisions you will make,

For, what you think about it, will direct the path you go…

Does your opinion take you down the wide, or up the narrow road?
