OUR HOUSE OF CARDS

OUR HOUSE OF CARDS

A screeching silence roams
From the room below....
As I peer my eyes
I dont like the show....

A fear consumes my soul!

What is happening here?
Love came once...
I am watching it go...
For the dice is rolled
It tells the fate
of this fragile home.....

I crawled to the end
of a maze,
trying to find you.
But a new scene is displayed
What lurks from inside you.

I dont want to loose my way
The mirrors all around me
Keep showing a face,
Chastized by the fear
That the wrong hand will be played....

Alone in our House of Cards,
Each time you forsake me.
You flashed out the diamonds and hearts
You seemed to embrace me....

I fell so deeply to you
A trap to which I have fallen
I must hide inside here
While I am still stalling....

I've seen
A callous revenge
That has become
Your darkest side
A love that once was
I no longer share
 You will flare up within
You should know
 I am scared

I watch the wheel turn
Betting down my chips
That I will choose
The right way out
And never
Look back again.

Alone in our house of cards
They might soon fall onto me
Your anger, your demands
Expectations and control over me.

I take my chance
Throwing down my final plead
Please, This time--the house
Must not win the hand
Don't let it, please
It can not hide a spade
From up under its sleeve.

This poems drips with metaphorical imagery deployed so skillfully, it was a dream to read. This poem perfectly captures the fragile nature of chance, how it can teeter between two extremes. It's a powerful thought, and makes for a powerful poem here. I am new to your work, but on the evidence here, it's a safe bet (excuse the pun) that I shall like what I find. Top stuff.

" Our House Of Cards" , oozes with a delicate balance, between shattered dreams and the fragility of being stuck outside some semblance of order.."Game on"...........A ten from me
