    Our Most Imposing Stare

    Most Imposing Stare

When did we as a society

    Lose our grip on reality

    While trying to legislate morality

    Through politically correct actuality

Using just enough fact to entice the mind

As we left true morality far behind

In the dust gasping for air along with compassion

As self righteousness became the garment of fashion

That we the people don with pride

    Creating moral, spiritual genocide

As we with false modesty, proudly define

The perfect life from our imperfect minds

And from the greatest to least all are deluded

    Even I myself am included

As from time to time I find

I am guilty of the moral crime

Of believing I am better than some

Because for the moment I am spared the race they run

Not considering as with disdain I look upon

    The trying grueling marathon

That they run on their way to life’s golden ring

While I contribute little if anything

Other than the water of doubt

As with tenacity they go about

Doing what it takes to complete their run

    Onward to life’s setting sun

As we in self righteousness glare

At them in our most imposing stare
