    Our Secret

It’s hard to put into words
All the things that I feel
    I think of yesterday
And love that it was real.
I wonder where we go from here
    Not knowing what comes next
All that I can hope to do
Is keep putting feelings into text.
    We’ve kept so much going
    For over eleven years
It just seems to get better
    With the distance bringing tears.
I look back with such amazement
On all the passion we have not lost
The distance, the years, the arguments
    The hurdles we have crossed.
Even now I can see your face
    And those beautiful smiling eyes.
I still want you more each day and
My heart for you still cries.
    I carry you with me
    Every place that I go.
You are in my heart forever
Of course, that you already know.
We have to keep going on
    Each and every day
Knowing that somewhere in the future
    Together we’ll forever stay.
    Until then my true love
We must keep putting on the show
For the others involved in our lives
That they, right now not know.
We’ll keep having those chance encounters
    And hoping for the best
The love we have is a journey
    With each stop another test.
    I already miss holding you
And it has only been one day
    It is the sad consequence
Of the love for which we pay.
    But I must tell you
    That my heart still smiles
    Knowing that you love me
    Helps me cross the miles.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
