    Paper Walls

    paper walls
    were meant to fall
    and take the love
    inside us all
    the force of our regret
and the stain of our rage
    unable to admit
this was no act of courage
    a path already written
in your eyes i saw us crying
    and in my heart
    i couldnt stop lying
    to you and to us
to the memory of what was
    i fell in the trap
    of holding on too long
    to something that was
    never meant to be strong
    behind paper walls
where every breath is a shout
    when someone calls
    its never about
    what we feel
    what we see
    the average exotic
    in a sea of mediocrity
    burning the leaves
we have nothing but dry desire
    the wetness of our lust
    was our only fire
    quenched enough
    to kill us dead
    paper walls of life
i guess we just cant win

To use peeling wallpaper as a metephore for dying love!! Ok, you're a poetic genius-it's all out of the wash now, as they say(weak attempt to compare to your crafty metephore, LOL) There wasn't one aspect of this work, that wasn't dead on, hard hitting-truth. Worded, with your mark-what was once, just in your head-now is another, masterpiece you share!-you are a great writer.-Maddi

A very good piece filled with strong images on word! Your unflinching honesty enables you to connect and share deep emotions! "behind paper walls where every breath is a shout" Brilliant line! "10" from me

This was really good and sad, I believe most people can relate to it. I also like the fact that it almost looks like it is structured into a picture or form. It starts off small, then gets bigger, just to shrink again. Except for a few lines, it is structured almost exactly like that. I love it, the whole poem and its style.

thank you once again, this poem arose from my own heartbreak, as many of my poems do...i hope you keep reading and rating my work, it drives me to do better

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
