Paths Unknown

Forgive us Father, for we have sinned

Ten thousand times and more,

Side by side, hand and hand we walk

Holding hands with greed and lust

We continue on, we cannot stop

Our inner fires have turned astray,

This path we tread, it ends in Hell,

Please Father, our savior, or Lord,

Lead us off this path of evil,

Show us the way, give us a sign,

Save us from these sins,

Guide us from temptation.

Sons, Daughters, Children mine,

There is no path to show,

No proven way, no sure road,

For we are one and the same,

Journeying on to a place we know not,

An end unknown, a path unseen,

There is that which even I must follow,

And things I dare not know.

So follow your hearts    my youths,

For in the end, the heart is all that’s true.

Wow I loved this write, so deep and dark, its like Edgar Allen Poe wrote a Robert Frost piece haha. I loved it really, saving this one to my favs so I can re-read, and re-ponder at future dates. ~Spence

I think this is the best poem you have ever written young man. I am glad I read it after I read "I had my chance." This has such great imagery and rhythm. You've really gone out on a limb here and created something special.

I like how this addresses all of mankind and not just your own mis-steps. Allowing the reader to become more intimate with the piece. The future is unknown...but if you're clever and virtueous the crystal ball doesn't seem so cloudy. I might be wrong...but it appears you posess both of these things. I wish you goodluck.

Poetry is what gets lost in translation.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
