Poem Commentary

Continuing Darkness theme and cage......I'm having a lot of fun with these as I've never done a series of poems like this......

Patience and Duck Tape.

Stand off between the Darkness and I,
Has come to a uneasy truce,
Near true death for both of us,

The machine that keeps me,
No keeps us alive,
Almost was turned off,

Darkness needs me alive,
Strangely I need the Darkness,
Looking into the black,

Inky; swirling abyss,
Knowing now it stares back,
A smile slowly spreads,

"Well my dark friends,
Yes I will call you my friend now,
How about we get this machine moving again."

"Am I mad?"
Chuckling to myself,
Such a strange question to ask,

I'm stuck in my mind,
With an alien enity,
Hell bent on stealing my body,

Yet, I'm more sane now,
Than I have ever been,
Embracing the madness is the only way out,

A plan,
How good of a plan,
Well its the only one that gets me out,

Sitting in front of the console of my mine,
No instructions of course,
Language function keeps switch,

English,
Then to who knows what,
Possibly Japanese there,

Off to Spanish them,
Wiring is all twisted,
Darkness sits off just watching,

I sigh,
Smiling as I start to trace these wires,
Time to play by my rules,

Hearing seems still intake,
Coming and going though,
Finally English returns,

Quickly following wires from hearing sensors,
I find the break,
Duck tape appears next to me,

Along with electrical tape,
There is nothing duck tape,
Can't fix,

Days,
Nights,
Flow into one,

I work on this machine,
Machine I call myself,
No longer dispair,

Patience;
A lot of duck tape,
Darkness will have me,

Certainly not today,
Nor tomorrow,
My cage will fall,

He circles around me,
Pondering what I'm doing,
For Darkness is no longer the master,

Looking over,
"If you're going to do that; stop,
Make yourself useful,

We're not going anywhere,
Not for awhile,
These repairs,

My repairs to my mind,
Can't happen over night,
So patience sparky,

I want out,
and so do you,
Togther we shall be free,

Oh don't look at me that way,
You want out,
I'm coming with,

That is the deal,
One way or another,
We leave together, or no one leaves at all."

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
