    Poem Commentary

    Negativity isn't purposely depicted, simply ramifications pertaining to people we meet and their characteristics.
    People we meet and greet daily in any Hometown, USA. 
    So called normal people, relatives, one's so called friends .. one's next door neighbors. Cold, harsh reality we only seem capable of admitting .. after the damage is done.

    PEOPLE IN MY HOMETOWN

     People in my hometown
    Elect crooked officials
    Often go to church
    Pretend to be God fearing Christians
    Lechers in sheep's clothing
    Everyone waves and smiles

    Instigate when they're bored
    Narcotics officers kick in innocent's doors

    Morals are corrupt
    Yearn for a clear conscience

    Hope to be famous .. perhaps a celebrity
    Often turn their noses up
    Murder .. molest .. lie .. cheat .. and steal
    Escape with political pardons
    Tell strangers strange tales
    Orbit without leaving the earth
    Wish .. secretly .. to live a fantasy life
    Now .. ponder yours

    You really moved me with your bitterness, I feel everyone whether it's their environment or not has felt this contempt towards something. I do wish I had read this poem combo correctly, I didn't realize the second hometown poem was a follow up. Regardless they both were inspiring and compelling.

    I try to hide my frustrations from being Native Indian living in a non Native Indian community where prejudice has always been high. Sometimes the frustrations pour out, here is such a case. Thanks for visiting my page.

    Interesting! Although I cannot currently relate to it where I am living, my dear mother lives in a town that seems very well described in your poem. She is involved in the city because of her husband's job - and it sounds like something so unreal - the stories of corruption and evil.

    Yep...That seems pretty much the way it goes. I only get really worried when they start smiling and waiving!? lol Then you need to run!

    Funny, can't read the poem without thinking of the hometown of my youth. How do people get bored in small towns, look at all the happenings, and the little old lady across the street whose got her eye on everyone...she'll let you know their story.

    So true, small hometown of my youth everyone practically knew everyone's biz. People bored were usually newbies to town from larger towns. Yes, everyone knows the little old lady across the street and she knows all w/o a crystal ball.. lol. Thanks Charlie23! SBear
