Poem Commentary

This is the third entry in my assassin/hunter/mercenary set of poems. It was a fun piece to write.

Phantom

Those who seek will not find me -
None live to recall my face.
I can blend with any crowd
And not seem out of place.

I am a ghost among men,
A shadow in the night -
The right hand of Death,
I remain out of sight.

I am the whisper in the wind,
The chill up your spine;
By the time you notice me
Your life will already be mine.

Unrighteous ones be wary
For thy wrongs of the past
I will rectify with my blade, and
Make your next breath your last!

Thanks for the comment!

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
