Poem Commentary

A Mind that dreams............of a better place, must seek justice first.

Pockets Lined With Jade

We are the pests,

the pesticidal sprayed.

Look into the sky,

where the cocktail is laid.

Survival depends on immunity.

Some ask,” is there a God -meaning unity?”

“What happened to our global community?”

Is not our fine brother,

looking over our nest?

Our sovereignty is at stake, at best-

you jest?

When will human kindness

wake up from their blindness?

The worm is in the net.

How much more atrocious

does it need to get?

Seated in a house of cards

where all the players played,

performing all their evil against

a bright charade.

The indigenous ones-

simple-minded and blinded,

in their beds were made.

Bled until their eyes were gone

for pockets lined with jade.

Well done..poetic questions about our world. 'Survival depends on immunity..' immune from our seemingly desire to poison ourselves or..are we immune ot the suffering? or both? Good write. T64

Thanks Train, you made me ponder my own poem a different way, thank you for that. I would love to hear from you again on any one of my other poems.;-)

Metaphorically outstanding and well stated in a world where smoke and mirrors exist and are constantly there to throw some more jade our way. ginga

Thanks, Ginga. I always appreciate your kind words of wisdom and really admire your poetic offerings.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
