At age 44, I am trying to break into the writing field. I have been told many times I should do something with my writing, however, as we all know, it doesn't bring in a steady paycheck. I'm taking the leap. I have two grown boys who live on their own now. My background is mostly in social services, but I got a bit burnt out, and took a sabbatical. I'm not sure if I'll go back, however, I do have my sights set on starting a women's group for women who have lost custody of their children. Their is just no support out their for women who have experienced this. My ultimate goal is to see if the need is large enough to start up a nonprofit agency to service the various needs of these women. So I guess I am going to return to the field. But I don't know when I will get a paycheck again. I also am just starting to submit my writing, and would love suggestions at this point. I am a real beginner. I have been writing forever, but haven't been marketing until now. I thought it would be great to start with some fellow poets to get feedback and to also see the other great work out there and give my feedback. I feel like such a novice, but I really feeled called to do this at this time in my life. Happy writing!
