Biography

For me, writing is therapy. I can say everything, or nothing. It lets me release everything that's inside of me like my wants, my desires, my fears, my pride, my sorrow, my needs, my anger and other emotions. The best thing about writing is that I can say whatever's on my mind, or in my heart, or at the pit of my soul...and there will always be someone, somewhere, that can relate to it. Writing is about passion. I hate to hear people say, "Well, I'm not a good poet" because if poetry comes from the heart of a person...if poetry comes from the innermost being of a person...then that IS great poetry. It can't get any better than that.

A lot of people may not understand why I wrote a particular piece, or what I was thinking when I wrote it. They won't understand the angle at which it was written, and they won't understand the flow of the piece. So I'm going to put this out there, as I want people to actually ~understand~ what they're reading: if you have a question about a particular piece, please feel free to ask me about it. I don't mind explaining a poem, or sharing the experience or emotion(s) behind it. Understand the piece and know the poet, before you rate the thought.

I'm a wife and a mother to a son, but I'm also a woman with deep thoughts and dreams that aren't always understood. I am a lifelong learner, and I'm extremely curious about people and about the world. I love to talk, love to laugh, and I love to make other people laugh as well.

In your bio you have put down the truth that poetry that comes from the soul, that speaks one's own truth IS great poetry. At such a young age your soul is wise beyond its years. I am honored to know you, to read your words and to share your passion!

you make this statement in your Biography: "if poetry comes from the innermost being of a person...then that IS great poetry" Those are great words and worth their weight in gold! *big smile*

I'm in Austin too. I really like your way with words. :) Do you do readings?

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
