Biography

A Brief :
About Poet : Biplab Chowdhury (UJJAN)

==========================
He had a desire to be a Scientist: and so he prepared his thesis on the Applied Physics, the research being to find out another bright mean-colour in the seven colours of VIBGYOR. Therefore, his truth-searching mind, with his x-ray-keen eyes, wants to test and confirm, whatever comes up, on the black-stone of the basic verity.

And there, has he within, a pensive and undulating mind, that makes him ever-dialectical. His that vacillation is often expressed in his poems, his film. He has been abroad time and again, tried to find out a mean-root to search out the relation in the culture, science and other virtues of the East with the West.

He writes and writes in various journals his research-matters, essays, poems, news features, articles and several others, all in Bengali, English, Spanish and in German languages. He is prone to learn various languages. He perhaps, wants to bring out unity in diversities, both in man’s outer as well as inner-self. Comic-Intellectualism is never his cup of tea, over his true and honest confessions about life drunk to the lees.

His advent to the film-world started with his feature film for children “KOLKATAR JISHU” (JESUS OF CALCUTTA). The pang and hardship of child labourers, exploitation on them, their toiling drudgery of life made that 24-year old youth deeply sad and thoughtful. He wanted to verify the ‘class look-out’ where the struggle for a classless society concept was on. And that drove him from within, to run around remote villages, where the struggling Harijans are trying to survive at all events, pawning life. His second film “AKRANT” in Hindi vivifies his that pang. He has expressed his youth-feelings in his telefilm “PATHAR” (The Stone). On the the parameter of the middle-class sentiments on the political mivements in Kolkata during 1970-71 with the Maoist identities.

His span of work-----from ad-films to documentaries, feature-films, Television programmes, Video-albums, news-based programmes, and such others----are all his pets. He tries to unify one identity in thousands of different characters he views. And, among them, he undulates with his critical thinking in a serene but succinct subjugation. His documentary “THE ABODE OF VAGRANTS”, an awarded and applauded document placed before viewers a challenge, how to solve the problems on them. He compels the world to think on it. He puts direct questions on the age-old puzzle.

His poems, above all, touches the bareness of true-to-life features, personifies the body of the poems with the dab and deep colours of words and frames an art under his mute shies. In his book of poems “ON THY NAVEL”, series of old-acquainted faces fade away, leaving places for the new and unknown.

His craze to find the new and new is his only novel and perpetual pang.
