Pop a pill for creativity

Pop a pill for creativity

He popped a pill to find a thrill

To unleash the creative mind

Here’s the story in all it’s glory

Of what the pill did find.........

Dizzy in the head, taking to his bed

Falling on to his back.

Reality wavered in multi flavoured

Consciousness began to crack.

Awoke sitting at a table, in a car dangling from a cable

Heading up the mountainside

Looking around, hearing no sound

Scared he had to confide.

Plates of food spilled on the table filled

In polystyrene earthenware

He travelled alone in his self-made throne

Heading he did not know where.

Ascended up hillside afar, in lonesome cable car.

To the fact it seemed to elude

Sumptuous feast of vegetable and beast

Not to consume would be rude.

Chased the line up the hill, given by the pill.

Disappearing in to the mist

Finding the light in the middle of the night

Awareness did  not resist.

He reached the top of the ride, now down for the slide

He’d found God’s light

Turning to descend, his decision to defend

As he looked down in fright.

Peering down at the table, eyes were unable

To escape what he could see

There were maggots and flies in pustule pies.

Straight he wanted to be.

Ascent grew faster, no more the master

Of his own free will

He began to weep as it became too steep

Oh just for another pill.

The down was too fast, this to be his last

He would not awake from this hell

No longer alive just dead, nothing left in the head

Parents just found his shell.

Wow, loved the way this one reads. Smooth and clear not too sing song like though. Very graphic, and really takes the reader there. Nice piece. Write on .........Tempestlady

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
