Porcelain Doll

Porcelain Doll

I try to intimate love like a beautiful

porcelain doll. Rosy cheeks, courageous smile.

The beauty of my porcelain doll hides behind

the art of her face, as I do with colors of

the blue sky that I paste upon my eyelids.

For my love I lost I cry no more.

I use to wish he lied to me because I wanted

to believe he actually loved me. I soon

realized that on the other side of

attraction lies repulsion.

I held on to my porcelain doll the way he

held on to me, lifeless.

Though time kindled upon me, I learned to

let go and grow for what wasn't good for me

was a lesson learned.

My dear sweet doll is shattered but

Unbreakable. Let's try again...

As I travel long years with my doll, I soon

discover beauty within.

An interesting transition from outward reflections to an actualization of inward awareness...very creative imagery you've chosen to portray an idea...Great work!

Thanks! I really wanted to have the reader relate to my expression of loving oneself.

Yes sometimes we have to forgive and forget and let go of our pride and love ourselves for who we are in spite of what others do or say. A very beautiful expression of yourself and who you are. God Bless BikemanRJ

Very interesting poem. I especially like the use of the metaphor in the line that reads - The time kindled upon me. my niece has been collecting Barbie dolls since she was a child and now is 42 years old. I selected this poem based on the title while reading I thought of my niece. Thanks and this is a 10 from me

Thanks! Basically the porcelin doll in this poem is resembling me. I wanted the reader to relate of how life can be more then just a doll. And as women we can't be perfect. Even though time continues and we age we can and must move on.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
