Possession

Poem Commentary

For now this will do, but I do want to make it better. It's a story about a young person who turns to darkness and becomes possessed. The demon's consciousness then takes over. But in the end the simple man, 'man of God' prays for the young, and God answers.

Possession

Where are you now, where are you hiding?
You're in the shaddows, darkness blinding
You are trying something new
But you don't know what you're doing to you

Where are you now, where are you hiding?
You're in a cell, painfully crying
You are dieing to be set free
From the demon's grip of your creed

And so there you stand, all alone
Cold and wet, and not yet grown
You'll never see too far ahead
Because in darkness you're already dead

Where are you now if your not here?
You're completely lost behind your fear
Behind your eyes the curtain's closed
In your mind a darkness grows

Here you are, why aren't you going?
You're possessing, You are controlling
You are exploring us of all
Who you think caused you to fall

So there you are with naked crown
Standing up with silent sound
You're eyes, though black, look at me
A simple man is what you see

You're not wrong, but in your dream
Nothing's quite what it seems
Then you fall with motion slow
And you fall far below

Back to hell, from where you came
I cast you out in God's name
Never to harm this one again
All power is God's in the end.

In modern society, while many profess to believe in God with unyielding faith; they disregard the idea of Satan and fallen Angels. As it is said, there cannot be good without evil to forge a balance (the yin for the yang). How odd we are to recognize that evil is very real and in our ignorance to its existence we allow it all that much more power over our lives.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
