    Protector

     I'm everyone's protector.
    Help them feel better.
    I am their stronghold.
    When the storm blows through,
    They know I am who they can always come to.
    The one they can lean on,
    Someone they can trust.
    I'll be whatever you need me to be.
    A friend...
    A mother...
    A sister...
    A lover...
    But I'll keep you on check.
    I'm everyone's protector.
    I can't do this on my own.
    I have problems of my own.
    But I'm in this all alone.
    No one to talk to.
    No one to hold me.
    So I put up my wall,
    And guard it well.
    I have to stay strong.
    I am everyone's protector.

    Eva... I love the backdrop on this piece, but you should consider a rewrite to keep the voice in perspective... A young mother; struggling with the bazillions of tough choices to raise a brood, make a good home, be a good wife, and keep it all together at the same time is a classic story of family life... The unsung hero is always the mother... That symbolic entity copes with it all, and somehow her inner strength always overcomes her weaknesses to get them through... At line 15, the voice's theme changes to "can't" do these things... A minor distraction, but in being the all-everything protector, the voice should be consistent with it's strength and ability to cope with and overcome problems... There have been some great books, poems, and movies done on this theme... We can now add yours to that fine collection... kudo's... Doug
