Poem Commentary

This poem was written after my mother was killed by a drunk driver. I felt the following and so I wrote it. I hope that people become aware of the dangers of drinking and driving and realize that when they drink and drive they are putting every single person on the road in danger. Please save lives and " DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE".

" Dear Mom, Goodbye"

You left this World without even a goodbye,

All I seem to do is mourn losing you daily and constantly cry,

You seemed to know sometime before you left that your time was near,

For I now remember the last conversation we had, that I now hold so dear,

I lost you once in my life when I had needed you so much,

I was just a young girl who grieved losing you and never thought I would have to do it twice as such,

The day came so fast that you left me forever,

To be with God I know who needed you two together,

I am so sorry about the way you had to leave and I pray it did not leave you feeling any pain,

My only hope is that you are being cherished by God, and did not die in vain,

I know God needed you because he must of needed someone very great,

I will not be angry, mad or full of useless hate,

I always had wanted to tell you that you were the best mother that I could of ever had,

I realized once you left this World forever that people do not know what they have until it is gone and that's so sad.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.
