Poem Commentary

The life of a trucker is hard, not only on himself.  A piece to share, what we bear when he's gone.  Hope you enjoy...

"Our Trucker"

I'm not too bad tonight,
he is far away,in a motel, but allright.
I fight to trust.
I know I must.

He is so tired,
a long day to be admired.
Del Rio is so far away.
I wish he could stay.

I am here
no joint, no beer.
I sit and write
will be a long night.

A great kid as company,
playing music, he shouldnt be.
Asleep I should make him, I know
But there is nowhere tomorrow to go.

So he sings, and I write,
and we'll have a good night.
Until we see his high beams,
we'll only see him in our dreams.

We love him so,
want him to know.
We never want him to go.

He wants something to show.
We know, so he has to go.

Tough life and hard on the family. My hats off to the ones that keep our nation rolling. Nicely written. Heartfelt.

tempest, A heartfelt plea of missing that special someone due to the demands of their work and his travels. I like the candor you always project in your poems. ginga
