"PANDORA'S BOX"

"PANDORA'S BOX"

It was a fateful day, in times of old
Zeus, God of God's ordered a maiden
Make her a fair haired virgin, out of clay he told

With the word of Zeus, this was done
But she was also made to be very human
With positive and negative qualities just for fun

Pandora was her name
She stunned the men with her beauty
But this also brought forth some shame

When given a box, told never to lift the lid
Curiosity got the best of her
So willful, open the box is just what she did

Pandora was not aware, the box was filled with bad
Bad things that would forever remain in this world
Sickness, old age, poisons, bugs, things that would turn your life inside out and ever so sad

These sprite's all came flying out
She failed the lesson
Patience and temptation was what it was about

What's done is done, no turning back
But what other's didn't realize she left something behind
Finding something good was her knack

What was left behind in that fateful box was hope
The star of hope shone it's light brightly in her box
That light from the star is what helps us to cope

I am ever grateful for whimsical Pandora and her star
Temptation is a bitch, made of clay or from flesh
We are all mere human and can go just so far

I am a most impatient one
I would've probably done the same thing if in her spot
Either way, what's done is done

Little Miss Pandora has taught me much
I have no regrets for all the things I've let out of my "box"
Without the bad there is no good, I learned to touch

I try to  touch the souls of those I am near
I hope to make a difference from that star that shone
To take that light and rid the fear

Pandora was made to be human and she acted that way
With imperfections, and impatience
"To err is human", is what I've heard them say!

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
