Poem Commentary

Through TDY's and OTR Truckdriving, he's always exhausted when he gets here and late to leave.  Parting really is such sweet sorrow.  Hope you enjoyed it.

"Sweet Dreams"

Beautiful dreamer
asleep beside me,
sleep to you
is more important you see.

Ruby red lips,
and fluttering lashes.
I drink tea of rose hips,
while more time passes.

But i am really alone,
my companion a dog
I talk on the phone
while your in a fog.

You are my love
yet, you are my despair.
You wake, and fly like a dove
out of sight, in thin air.

Way up high
in the sky
kiss me goodbye,
so i can cry
.

He comes home only to leave again. How desperately sad. This is very good in its simplicity.

Just lonely when he is gone, and lonely much of the time when he is home. It can be very frustrating. Write on...

this was simply lovely, Tempest. Truly lovely. My husband used to be trucker before the Lord called him into the ministry. I wrote a poem back when he was driving, maybe you would like to read it. It is: TWO LOVERS APART. I also wrote some poems about truck driving when I went out on the road with him. If you search through my poems you will find them. They are mostly named with the word Semi truck in them.

I liked it a lot. reminds me of my parents. dad use to be a truck driver. so he was hardly ever home. mom use to be so happy when he was home. it seemed to fly by though.

to choose this occupation is to choose the life of a free spirit. to choose his love and not question why, would be impossible. good write.

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
