    rain's a comin'

I feel the coming of the rain.

Please don't let it happen again.

It's so strong, I just can't stop it.

    I'm in over my head.

Stop me, stop me, I'm going in again.

Maybe this time I'll learn my lesson.

I shoulda heard you the first time.

    I shoulda listened before.

But I was born to be hurtin.

    Hurtin at heaven's door.

    It was meant to be.

It was dealt in my cards.

    So I'll go on hurting.

    Til the hurtin's taken away.

I shoulda heard you the first time.

    I shoulda listened before.

But I was born to be hurtin.

    Hurtin at heaven's door.

She never meant to hurt me,

    But I knew she would.

That's not how i want it,

    But that's how it'll be.

    I'll hurt for all eternity.

    Oh, please, help me.

    Please set me free.

I shoulda heard you the first time.

    I shoulda listened before.

But I was born to be hurtin.

    Hurtin at heaven's door.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
