Ramblings of a Confused Chick

Your eyes are every where;
nothing goes un-noticed;
you catch the game on one television
the weather on another
you notice how the couple next to us...
the girl wants to stay and hear the song
that just came on, the guy rolls his eyes
and thinks "Honey, I'll buy you the C.D."
you chuckle as you take it all in
...but all I care about is your eyes

I talk about us...
the fear that's been eating me for months,
the first time I've been honest enough
to let my fear take form in words
where is this going, what happens next
without saying it
I'm asking you for your reasurance
...not what I get
you can't tell what the future holds
without saying it, you say loud and clear,
you can't trust me...how can I blame you?

I want your eyes on me;
I want to be noticed
you catch so much, is it possible you've missed this?
you see how I watch you
searching, smiling, teasing,
I tell you, "that's not very reasuring,
but at least your honest."
I wonder why this distance
why have you changed the subject
I'm searching for you heart
your searching our surroundings

My training is to look inside
to figure out the emotions, the mind
your training is to scan the environment
detect threats unseen, something out of place
to protect yourself...protect yourself from me?
You've ignored the question in my eyes several times
I don't care what goes on around us
all I care about right now is you and me
But there is danger in the air
it hasn't caught you unaware
is it here?

I've finally gotten some answers from this gentlemen....we are now two years into our relationship and while he still says he doesn't know what the future holds, he has said he knows it holds me and recently bought me a token to show these feelings....a past, present, future diamond ring.....maybe he's noticed the questions in my eyes more than I originally thought! While he sees I am dangerous, he seems to carefully calculated the risks and decided that I am one he is willing to take! : )

I find this to live up to the title, rambling thought's on the emotions of a relationship well done, take a look at the format of this piece, and with a tweek or to it will make a great poem, for a lot of poetry is in it's format

Thanks for your input....I still havent' managed to tweek it but maybe it will come in time. I have a friend who is an artist and sometimes he starts a cavas and leaves it only to finish it years later when it comes to him....just what it needs. Maybe that will happen with this one.

This is a nice piece, full of emotion and impact. You articulate in poetry what you apparently don't say aloud. Perhaps you should. I love the line, "Honey, I'll buy you the CD." It's like a study in unrequited empathy. Structurally, watch your spelling and punctuation. Otherwise, nice work!

Wow...did you hit the nail on the head or what!? I wasn't even sure if this one would be called poetry, it was more just my ramblings and thoughts in a confused little mess. My spelling and punctuation does really suck. Thanks for reading it and thanks for your input

you seem to be looking at a releationship the may have been one sided - which side I don't know - thanks for being open and showing your emotions - a solid 9

That is one thing I am pretty good at being...at least in poetry and often in real life as well. Thanks for your input and I'm flabbergasted you'd say my ramblings could be a 9!

I've speculated a bunch on the situation you describe in this piece. You def. painted a picture of a dinner scene...You even conjured up old memories of joking around when a girlfriend wanted to have a serious conversation over dinner. I'd like to think that I've grown up since then. Maybe I should take a vote.Haha. Regardless...I don't find the poem itself to flow all that well but you make up for it with your scenic wording. Not to mention when the title includes the word ramblings...one shouldnt expect it to flow , I'm also led to believe that the gentleman you speak of might have been a military man. If theres anything to learn from a soldier it is being aware of the world around you. All in all a good write.

Lol! Yeah, basically, I just posted kind of a diary entry after a dinner with my boyfriend that night. Na, if it is to be a poem, it needs some work, but with the comments I'm getting I'm thinking I could improve it and make it a nice piece somehow. I have to tell you that the man in the poem does have military background....and I know he has much to teach me. We see the world so differently. Thanks for your comment

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
