Poem Commentary

Were we to understand and not just believe, what miracles might we uncover -

Reason

Reason tells me that Life does not judge.
Man judges, therefore Man's created Gods judge.
But in nature there is no judgement.

What is nature?
It is weather, and mountains, and rivers,
and oceans, and valleys - and it is natural law.
Falling is the result of natural law -
Yet there is no judgement here.

Man thinks there must be reward and punishment,
else no one would do what is 'right.'
These are conclusions made by those who have
yet to learn who they are.

The Human is a wedding, melding really,
of Spirit and Matter. Man must appreciate
his body and protect it, because it houses Spirit.
But when man believes he is body,
he doesn't understand his own destiny.
And that is the cause of his confusion
which results in his unhappiness - and his religions.

The fact that Man has his religions at all
indicates he has yet to find his way.
Man needs to learn who he is, and why he is here.
For he and his religions are not one.
He must conform to them to find acceptance.

Man has yet to find a way to live in peace.
And his Religions have not done that for him.
Yet, still he is controlled and conforms.
Is this not insanity?

And yet, is this not a religion, what you believe? Can one not make a religion by how they brush their teeth each day? Hahaha! I like this poem. It is very insightful. I too believe religion is a coping mechanism for man. But I also believe there is only ONE WAY to all that is right, correct, and good. One way to God, and it is in the bible. I respect your opInion dear friend, and hope you are not offended with mine.

Nothing offends an iconoclast. Thanks for stopping by, sorry I'm so late in noticing. Just remember, the Bible was chosen and decided upon by men!

I have liked Einstein's definition - Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. That defines religion for me perfectly. When we understand we do not believe.

This is sooo true-I believe in God, yet I never feel more at peace than when I am outdoors-the bird songs my hymns, the tall pines my cathedral...earthly

I am CONVINCED that the God of the Bible does not exist. Hence religions have not given man the answers he needs - only BELIEF sytems that ring hollow in everyday life. Just Warm and Fuzzies.

Many people think nature is God. A sentimental belief I think.

You are very kind, Marie. Thank you.

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
