Reborn Struggle

Just like the words that I write on this page
My spirit's constrained, this world is a cage
My wisdom has always surpassed my age
In this losing battle called life that we wage
And I wish I was dumb, just simple in mind
If I had a choice, I'd be mentally blind
For even though wisdom will open ones eyes
It increases the pain that I feel deep inside
For we all know the truth, unforgiving and cold
And for those who do not, through pain it unfolds
Oh how my heart yearns not to fall in that mold,
Of a slave who will pass on, bitter and old.
I keep on fighting
I would rather go down swinging than on my my knees
Give me more pain!
I smile through the strain...
Even though my heart is dimming,
I've got to start living again!

So powerful! And you're very right about what you say in the last few stanzas... A very good write from you. But, all of your writes are great. :) Thank you for sharing.

I like this poem. Very good flow. A little different with the rhyming scheme but it works very well. I like the message that you send with this poem. I think most people can truly relate to what you feel. Great job!

I get what your saying I have been to that dark place where giving in and giving up seems like the best thing. In the end your right it's better to keep going on and take the pain even when the pain almost sucks you in and kills you.

Thank you Nadia

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
