    Release

    I let you go.
    I leave you be.
    I send you peace
      And love
        And light.

    The dark-haired girl
    From long ago
    Must reclaim her heart.
She has work to do, and must let go.
The tears that flowed have finally purified
And the fire within her burns brightly once more.

    Our work is done.
    Our agreement is fulfilled.
Go in peace, my love, my youth.
Take your flight with eagle wings.
    Fly high
      And free
        And far.
You may send back the dove of peace.
    And that would be welcomed.
    For.....Love is the perfect Way.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
