    Requiem

    Slowly emerging from the light
the chapel bell rings a lonely tone
    Rows in order
    side by side
    hearts broken
    words softly spoken describe

    The beautiful life
    a humble soul
    departed the earth
    to reap their sow

    A requiem softly lulling
    filling hearts with subtle sadness
    letting go and dulling
    the light of any happiness

In the midst of eyes amist
    glowing in the distance
    I am looking down
In attendance of my own right
I see the glow of each loved one's heart
    mine within no longer beats
    to a rhythmic heat
set by time; back to dirt.

    I'm healed now
    no more bloody thorns
    my wings they shine
    with a steady might

I want to whisper in their ears
    "I am here, I'm here
    and I am healed
    I'm healed!"

The tears start to stream down my face
for I can't wipe away their hurt
I can't dry their eyes with the comfort I feel inside
I can't soothe them with a calming voice
I no longer own those materials of time

The church bell rings it's lonely tone
the pastor speaks the somber words
I lay peaceful in the casket
my hands folded as if in prayer
I can't help but feel for the left behind
My life of glory has just began

Now I'm lowered into the earth
    where I was made
    my earthen skin of clay
    closing the door
    to offer a heart's closure
the dirt is placed upon my casket
    More beautiful than ever
    my cloak anew
    kept safe within
    the hearts I left behind.

WAOW.. this is soo lovely and yet soo sad. it felt kinda peaceful and yet soo harsh for those left behind. This is a real beautiful piece. Good write,

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
