Right Here

Carry on,

We look onto the westward sun, just like our forefathers did

We speak so fast, talk so loud, and live in constant fear

If we slowed down a little more, we’d be right here

What I’d do to be living right here

Carry on, we try and carry on

But the weight on our back fills up our ears

We eat the sounds of silence and never shed a tear

Success is all we don’t have because it’s never here

It’s always right in front of us, always so near

So let’s finally give ourselves a reason to laugh until we cry

All of my decisions can be made by the look in your eye

The touch of our hands don’t have to resonate with goodbye

You know the future is a place where we don’t have to die

We don’t have to die, we don’t have to sin

We won’t have to lie and dig ourselves in

Forget all the money; let’s burn all the cash

I’ll pull the car around; I’ll meet you out back

Forget all the money; let’s burn all the cash

I’ll pull the car around; I’ll meet you out back

Great poem with a powerful message. I look forward to reading more of your poetry as time goes by.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
