Poem Commentary

I have no clue what I'm doing, I just wanted to write some poetry, okay? Leave me alone. I'm brooding!

Room of Thrones

My room, my room,
how did it see?
This muck; a swamp.
Metaphor: me.
As corny phrases
allign the night.
Cliche composed
in crumpled whites.
Dirty, yes, so dirty, see?
Is when you rhyme
the same old things.
I'm not profound,
I'm desperately.
I'm mist of self,
and wordless speech.
Deep in my heart,
a pit I've made.
For walls are not
enough for me.
Oh hopeless bow.
Oh helpless team.
Do you not trust
the best you'd be?
For least of trust
is what we've known,
so trustless roots
from trustless bones.
But, smile, Cassandra,
For what you've seen.
Is not just death,
but liberty.
And when the justice
of the pained
will someday rule
as joy again.
The smiles we bear
are not our own.
They're royalty.
The room of thrones.

Thank you for your submission, Josh,
although we really do think that's a good poem that you wrote,
but we do not see how it should replace our previous highschool cheer
as it does not pertain to the character and pride of cheerleading for our highschool. I don't know if you're a religious man, but this certainly broke my heart and I'll be praying for you.
Sincerely,     Veronica. Head Cheer Coach

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
