Run Me Ragged

Run Me Ragged

Circles on knees, and pushing the boundaries
Dancing through streets and ignoring the sounds
Of everyone who ever said “don’t” or “you can’t”
Of everyone who ever said never to be,
Not to keep doing the things that are making me, ME.
I don’t con myself that I’ll ever be that again,
But once in awhile let me off of my chain.
I’ve made my mistakes,
I’m a fool, this I know -
But damnit it all I’ve got some great credits to show
I’ll might wear myself out
And you’ll scream and I’ll shout
But maybe dead ends are what I do best.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
