    Run to Moonlight

    Run Run Run
    to the bus station for a one-way ticket;
    "To where?" she'd ask.
    To anywhere but here.
    And believe me, I would
    if I could save my money that long;
    But every dollar I get
    puts food in my stomach, man.
    Live or leave?
    How can you leave if you don't live?
    How can you live if you don't leave?
    Run...
    toward that light in the night;
    But the substances you controlled
    now play tricks on your mind...
    Maybe we're blind.
    I'm running for my life;
    Living to run.
    Back against the wall; eyes see it all...
    Lovers in love;
    Lovers not in love; in lust.
    All apologies
    to my broken toys.
    I never thought twice...
    Run!
    Packed my shit and fled when the situation
    made me uneasy.
    Men make me sick
    because love is uneasy;
    So no wonder I left them all behind......
    But I was blind.
    Day and night he haunts my mind.
    My tears have multiplied,
    forming puddles on the ground;
    Shadows racing all around.
    Run
    from those hands that are reaching out
    to hold me still.
    I want to fly away from my memories;
    And pack a few to take with me.
    Run to the edge of the sea....
    He -
    always said "No, don't fly; Swim."
    And maybe he was right.
    Ocean calm intrigues me,
    especially in moonlight.

    it is better to lost a love then never love at all, some may say. experience is the best teacher and if lived all can say. so running becomes ran and ran has slipped to run, and run we shall.

    Run we shall, homeboy.... run we shall... And it is def true that its better to love and lose than to have not loved at all. I will always cherish the memories I have no matter how rough gritty or shitty. More importantly tho...its the things my experiences have taught me in the end. Regrets, some...but to change it...ahhh...I can't say I would...

    Thank you. Was the best of times and the worst of times... And I was very young and stupid at the time. I blindly let something precious and irreplaceable go but gained a lot in the process. Thats what matters in the end. The lessons and the learning.

    I imagine your mind was racing when you wrote this. Maybe not, either way you are a very good writer. Whether you swim or fly keep breathing.

    "Run to Moonlight" paints a picture of turmoil. It tells me that poetry is looking inward and eventually arriving at the truth. I wish you enough, (the title of one of my poems). Today, it is for you.

    Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
