Run/ using the night before christmas theme

Twos the night we chose to run from the cops,
the lights they were blaring right behind us.
We swerved and we swayed to our delight,
we ducked in a cornfield and turned off out lights.
I think we had lost him, for he rolled out of sight,
we continued on out path, in hopes we were right.
Then we came up to, and into a creek.
The cop must have known right where we'd be,
for when we got out he was laughing with glee.
I thought for a moment, he might fall in deep,
and then we could run, again from the chief,
but he regained his poseur, yet kept a small grin,
as he cuffed us together, and hauled our butts in.
