    Sacrifice

    Gunshots,

    crying in the silent night.

    Rising tides,

    swallowing us whole.

    Beating hearts

    pulsate in the darkness.

    Smokey death,

    an unforeseen circumstance.

    Take away my pain.

    Caress my heart.

    Soothe my soul.

    Close your eyes,

    I can make you immortal.

    An eternity,

    down to only seconds.

    Clashing currents

    ignite the end.

    Bullets ride through dead air

    and cut through you.

    The splattered blood,

    an eternal reminder.

    What we once had,

    shall not end again.

    I take my turn,

    and join you in eternity.
