    Seeking the Beauty of Gray

On a good day, silly hearted random thoughts collide within my head,
instead of all the hate filled feelings which I dread.
I wish I could find some gray but black or white, love or hate always seem to fill my days.
I fear the extremes of humanity, like radical acceptance and complete depravity.
I long for a time and place where peace and serenity are not seen as exceptions, but have become common place.
Somewhere between the sand box and the drive thru, life got so complicated and I became jaded, not knowing what to do.
    When did everything fall apart?
And what is to become of my broken heart?
I know now that I have to appreciate the beauty of gray, and treasure both the joys and sorrows that come my way.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
