    Poem Commentary

    To the man, Billy Mays!

    Sell 'em, Billy!

You dazzled me with your cleaning solution,
and made my kitchen counter stains go away.

You dazzled me with your vacuum,
and made my kitchen floor clean again.

You dazzled me with your wrench,
and made my kitchen sink work again.

You dazzled me with your burger station,
and my Paczki had a meal to go with it.

    You left us so suddenly,
after being struck upon the head.

    Oh Billy, what did happen,
after you returned home that night.

My Paczki will forever remember you,
as the one that made him whole.

My rating is 10 for a cleverly 'executed "earthy sort " of creation which is easy and pleasant to read, yet invites serious contemplation. Its versification and intonations are effective,

I am not comfortsble with the title of this poem. I can't see its relevance to the content of the narrative. We need an explanation as to the appropriateness of this title, from the poet himself.

Billy Mays was a salesman of many products on his commercials. Orange Glo one of the more famous products. That's where the Sell 'em part comes from.

One cannot miss the solemn and melancholic overtones of an obituary or epitaph skillfully and subtly running through what seems like a comic poem. I disagree with Dumpling that this poem is amusing. It is rather a poem that affects a contemplative mood, despite what seems like a a frivolous work. Papapaczki demonstrates that the loss or someone can be deeply felt, but the cutting edge can be softened or cushioned not by a stoical straight-faced mien or tear-faced appearance, but rather, by an epicurean exxpression. I do not think that Papapaczki would be so insensitive as to make callous fun of the demise of a colleague or of someone he knew. This subtly and seemingly frivolous poem reminds me of the Scottish folk-song, "Billy Boy." It seems a fittting and somewhat ironic tribute to someone who loved life and lived it carelessly and with abandonment, and had mysteriously and probably violently lost it. There is grief vieled in a robe of lightness in this poem. .It must be read and reread with great care to capture its true feeling and meaning. Its nuances must not be misconstrued. . .

It seems that you are speaking of some man by name of Billy who seems close to you it reads like a comical epitaph in unrhymed couplets. As far as mechanics go this poem is rather lacking as a tribute it hits the mark bull's eye, good job

Billy Mays is the guy who sells all that stuff on TV. Orange Glo, Mighty Putty, etc. Appreciate the comment on the tribute. That's all it was meant for. Had to get some attention off MJ!

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
