    Shadow of Love

     Why is it that the loves we leave behind
    Are those that scar us most?
    Was the heart we used to weild
    So much stronger than this one is?
    I think any man I ever meet
    Is brought short by your standard
    Even though you broke my heart
    Tore the trust of love
    I feel that everything I do
    Is in the hope of being with you,
    I know the facts, the truth of pain
    And how you knew you hurt me so
    Yet still I always ask to know
    If I had changed a little faster
    If my heart had beat a different tune
    And my body changed its form for you,
    Would things be different now? 
    But our lots been cast
    The number we once sang
    Forgotten to the past
    Just the memories of feeling
    Knowing I dare not love again,
    The timeless heart and soul
    Of one so young as we
    Shades every step to be

    Ah so young, yet so wise. questions we all ask along the way. One note of encouragement (which you probably don't need) Tis better to have loved and lost, than never have loved at all. Trite and overused, but in it's own way, still fresh and so true! Thanks for writing. polishprince.
