She Said
She said that she’d love me forever
but I gave up too soon.
She said that she’d take my pain away
but I couldn’t make myself stay.
She said that everything would be alright
but I disappeared into the night.
She said that she’d wait for me
but I was too late.
And now I say, “I’m sorry.”
As if my words have meaning.
