    Shift of the Swell

Sometimes you have to give them
    what they say they want,
In order for them to see
    what they already have
    And allow them to appreciate
    what they found,
Just as it was in the first place...

Then, when they're out of sync,
    You point it out
    ------even boldly
    And in so doing,
    expect them to change.

    The Power Pendulum has shifted,
    swelling back to you
    And you are yoked, now,
    To the position of energy.

Do you draw the power to you
in a breath of self righteousness,
    Or do you humbly accept
    the sacrifice
    And give it back
    ---------freely,
That the energy might burn stronger,
    brighter
    With the union---
    Spirits, hearts, minds,
    One----
Standing in the vortex of the Pendulum
    for balance,
A center for the coming shift
    of the swell...

You were born for relationship. We who are born with the shaft, tend to try to give that to others as often as possible, neverminding the pendulum's damning cadence. Big 10 for this one.

The opening stanza is perfectly worded. I have thought this many times. Every time I think I know what I want from life, something happens to show me otherwise. As for the question here, I would give it back. 10 from me.

I liked the thought of this very much. Quite the decision. Wonderfully expressed. Really enjoy your creative thoughtful mind. Thanks!

I like how you use analogies to talk about the shifts of power in a relationship and how it can only happen if we let it.

Very nice observation....the balance and continuity of a pendulum....beautifully written...good work. Jerry

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.
