    Poem Commentary

    This may be considered more of a prayer than a poem. Prayers are like poems in a way.

    Sign of the Cross

    Finger tips touch forehead

    We say, “In the name of the Father”

    Father of Heaven and Earth

    God Of Abraham, Isaac And Jacob

    Lord God Almighty

    Omnipotent God

    Omnipresent God

    Creator of All

    We are humbled by your power.

    Awed by an invitation to sit at your table.

    We praise you for your glory.


    Hand traced to abdomen

    We say, “The son”

    Son of God

    Son of Mary

    Lamb of God

    The Good Shepherd.

    Our Messiah

    Our Savior

    Our Redeemer

    King of kings

    Lord of lords

    Jesus Christ

    Word made flesh

    Alpha and Omega.

    Fully God, fully man

    who dwelt among us.

    Sacrificed for our sake.

    We await your return.

    Imperfect as we are

    have mercy on us.


    Left shoulder to right.

    We say, “And the Holy Spirit”

    Spirit of God

    Spirit of Mercy

    Spirit of Holiness

    Spirit of Grace

    Please embrace us.

    Infuse us with your sanctifying grace.

    You Spoke through the prophets.

    I pray thee, speak to us.


    Sign of the Trinity

    Reminds us of your mysteries.

    One God in three persons.

    Give us the gift of faith

    Help us to recognize our sins

    and forgive us for our evils.

    Let us do your will, not our own.

    Help us to sin no more.

    Enter into our souls.

    We ask and pray

    keep us pure.

    In the name of

    the Father

    the Son

    and

    the Holy Spirit

    Amen

    Faith, hope and Love and the greatest is these is Love! By faith I was given Hope and through Love I have learned how to Love again! Thank you for this Smile and for sharing a nicely written poetic prayer!

    beautiful and very visual write. along the religious lines you might like my poem love letter it's one of my newer ones. this was very well written great job.

    I love this so much, what a wonderful tribute to this almost unconscious act of faith. We make the sign of the cross with reverent intentions, though some may take it for granted and forget the meaning behind the actions... thanks for this! Amen!
