Poem Commentary

Inspired by the song Silent Night

Silence

Silence was all that could be heard

All around the world no creature stirred

The sky so black only a single star in sight

For destiny held a surprise that night

A single baby’s cry rang out for all to hear

There were no trumpets, no resounding cheer

A single woman’s soft voice was heard to say

“Hush my darling” as she wiped the tears away

On this night so silent a simple child was born

That would bring new hope to a world so torn

Two thousand years have come and gone

And millions still base their hope thereon

Was he a man of God or just a godly man?

We must each decide for ourselves as best we can

But one fact remains, whether you praise or you scorn

The world was changed forever that night that he was born

Excellent, the poem held the birth of Messaiah in the petals of poetry. I liked it very much. R K CHOWDARY

Thank you very much.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
