Silly Dreams

In my dreams you're right here by my side.
No miles between us;

no tied up phone lines;
you’ll look into my eyes;

I'll look deeply into yours;
you’ll tell me that you love me;

Say your mine forever more.
We'll snuggle deep within the covers;
be like two old crazy lovers.
I'll tell you that I love you;

say I'm yours forever more.
Wrap my arms around you;

You’ll smile that smile I so adore.
Then just like that you'll vanish;

heart bursting full of anguish;

phone begins to ring.
Alone here with a phone line;

to share my silly dreams.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
