Simple

SIMPLE THINGS HAVE CHANGED

Its the simple things that we must take note of

Like cotton shaped clouds above and lady bug climbing up sleave

Or even a wild growing apple like the one given by Eve

I leave for work listening to old school rap like DJ Red Alert and Kool Herc.

With a smirk remembering baggy pants and FLY GOLD CHAIN, who would have known

Hip Hop could bring Fame.

I notice side walk beggar asking for loot with same excuse

also that one guy that didn’t get the memo to use less mouse

And loose girls offing whirls 25 a pop, walking on those broke down heels,

Working hard for the money, time after time the shit won’t stop.

Remember buying soda pop can and bottle that were worth money

And that lady in your hood that sold candy for your little ass tummy

(yummy)

Look at us now, almost out of shape and we feel kind of crummy

But it was worth it for it was part of being nose runny and clumsy.

Lol Remember a taste of honey and the lil money you THOUGHT you had,

Picking up that fly outfit and finding out everyone else had..

It is the little things in time I take note of and smile,

Even now time repeats itself and when I see big hair I say "WOW".

Simple Times, silly crimes, saving dimes and bustin rhymes,

Some doing lines and even mimes still here doing what they do in modern times.

We fear for our baby and cause threat of maybe not enough fuel to power future life but at days end we need to focus,

step back and enjoy what’s nice.

Now I think twice before taking that chance, now I know not all

That glitters isn’t gold by chance. Days of Donna suggesting

A last dance is free.. now days everything has a fee.

Times simple things seem so out of range...

My how things have changed.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
