O Sleep! Please come to me alone my friend.
Allow for me to find the ground to bed.
Please let me find myself before I end?
I lay alone, lifeless, feeling dead.
You look up at me ready to take me.
Father, send your creatures to stop him?
They fly around, allowing me to be.
As beauty flies, his dark light starts to dim.
Sleep! I have finally found my shining light.
O Angels! You allowed me to rest.
You allowed the sky to give me might.
You are the only thing that is the best.
Now I'm ready for a new day to start.
God! I am ready for this lovely art.

you are a good poet.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
