    Soul Brother

One night we talked for what seemed like hours. About religion, politics, relationship and trust.Hell we got so deep into that old black power, I thought our spirits would burst!
And while you didn’t know it, but boy your voice could stir up resting waters in summer. So forced not to show it, for my choice..would be to fuck you til your mind stood in wonder.
Off into this world in a different time where neighbors did favors without being asked. Where hooking wun needed and lying was the 'true crime', and love was an emotion not a task.
Where children knew their places and places didn’t cost, cause the world was free to live in.Where popular votes won the races, and a piece of mind couldn’t be bought cause we all got that down home feeling!
Then I walked to my window gazing at the stars. On the phone you said something about tomorrow. So I looked at my clock, time had stopped. Damn, we could go on for hours! But we are both committed and every since we connected, we managed to respect our ‘significant other’ but in secret, we’re as naked as a virgin after her wedding…..and you are everything but..my soul brother.

NO MOMENTS COULD BE AS WARM! UNFORTUNATELY, OR FORTUNATELY THEY HAVE AN END! ONE OF THE MOST SOFT- WORDED WORKS OF TENDER- NESS I'VE READ. LOVELY!!!

Brilliant write. A true soul writer. I bet you could write a slammin' book tailored to the African American experience. You did your thing. I like this ;-)

Thanks Niecy, I knew you would really enjoy this one. A testament to a profound love...though clandestine it may be...between black men and women.

It started of with a trot and then smoothed into a steady pace. The shocker was the intimacy but what fun would it be if there was none? Never a dull moment, always full of excitement, but grass isn't greener. Grass is just grass. It's just fun to look over the gate! I liked this.

Wow! Great piece! I really enjoyed this poem it had me lost from the first word. I plunged into it, poetically speaking, and swam until the regretted finish line! Thanks for sharing.
