It matters not why or how.
We have arrived where we are now.
Do we go on and bet we'll win
or cast aside what might have been.

Do we say I failed you and you failed me,
blame each other for what comes to be,
or do we work to a better tomorrow
and cast aside past hurt and sorrow.

We have a choice that must be made
and we can agree the debts are paid;
make our bet and play to win
or tell the dealer to cash us in.

We've got four cards and the hand may bust
but there's four to the straght and four to the flush.
An ace will do it or even a nine
and another heart will fill the hand just fine

I state my choice to play the hand
turn the card and see it land.
Win or lose, I'll feel we've won
because we didn't quit, fold and run.

But if you think it's time to fold,
then this hand, can't turn to gold.
We'll count the chips that we put away
and wonder always what card would play.

I like the odds and I'd take the shot
but half the price is all I've got.
