Sugar and Cyanide

Sugar and Cyanide

Sugar and Cyanide
The lies
You tried to hide
Portrayed your darker side
Sugar and cy-y-an-i-i-de

We cried when the towers fell
The month you passed the pill
To rob a person's will
You went for the kill, k, ill, ill

You played a filthy game
Shredding away every trace
Slapped us in the face
It all went down in flames
flay-ymes

Sugar and cyanide
Tricks of greed
You couldn't hide
When justice turns its side
You paid the pri-i-ce!

You promised the perfect dream
A home for a family
Hid the truth for all to see
You shot the econ-on-my
ec-on-on-my

Sugar and cyanide
Upside down in your lies
When you fail
we fail at your side
Sugar and cyanide!

Your poison was a trick
With a filthy glue to stick
Look around you,
Its utt-terly sick
(utt-terly sick)

You ream us up the nose
You say you don't disclose
You say you wouln't share
But you did
Now we have no medical care (do you care, care, care?)

Sugar and cyanide
Look around
At all the lies
AIG, Sterns Sachs and all their ties...
Sugar and Cyanide!

They drank the kool-aid
To strike it rich,
Dont be a fool
Go ahead, be a snitch
There not in it for you
So choose right
You know which
Its time to make a switch!

Sugar and cyanide
Its time, they do not hide
The lies they told, that they subside
The truth shall be surmised (surmi-i-sed)

If you have trouble with the concept of this poem, it is based on the Kool-Aid incident of Jonestown (Jim Jones). Often the corperate world uses "drinking the kool-aid" as a perjorative for buying into what is unjust. When you look for the sweetness of the mixture OVER the hidden poison, you have inevitably bought into groupthink and you have placed politics over justice and morality.

very strong lyrical flow to this... it feels like it was written as a song.... nicely done

Poetry is what gets lost in translation.
